National Jandal Day

NZ Lifeguards rescue over 1500 people each year and prevent a further 350000 from getting into difficulty, but alarmingly NZ still has one of the worst rates of drowning in the developed world.

This Friday the 2nd December its National Jandal Day, the official fundraising day for NZ Surf Lifesaving. A number of our beloved Ludians are NZ Surf Lifesaving staff so we feel it only right that we show our support for such a worthwhile cause.

You can show your support by making a donation in one of the following ways:

AUCKLAND BLUES MEET LUDUS

The Auckland Blues have kicked off their pre-season training with a bang in the Ludus Arena. Ludus Magnus is proud to be providing its extreme conditioning services to our beloved rugby team with the goal of making 2012 the year of the JAFFA!!!

The outside backs pictured had just finished their first session and we'll be taking the whole squad through this Saturday morning before our regular Saturday sessions.

The Ludus Glow

Don't get burnt in that harsh Kiwi sun! We want you to accentuate the curves that Ludus gave you with a great tan but why not do it with zero risk of skin cancer!

Stacey Spencer, a fully fledged Ludian, is now offering her spray tanning services to our Ludus family. If there are sufficient numbers she is willing to come and do tanning sessions after evening Ludus classes or on the weekends for only $30 per bod! She can also come to you and do it in the comfort of your own home for $40 per bod.

The tan takes approx. 15 mins and is a new 2 hour spray tan meaning you only have to wait 2 hours before showering. The tan lasts around 8-10 days.

GIRLS ONLY!

Don't forget about our Girl's only classes. They're a great way to kickstart your Ludus training regime and also a great way to meet other Ludus ladies.

We focus on bootywork and core strengthening with some cardio and strength work thrown in for good measure. We still have discounted concession cards available for these classes - $110 will get you 10 classes.

And no, thank you boys, we don't need any cleaning in the gym done during these classes thank you very much.

What do Spartans eat?

At Ludus Magnus we're all about training hard, but to get the most benefit out of your training you need to be eating right. And thats why we have a fantastic nutritionist on board to attend to all your dietary issues.

Donelle Petelo is here to assist our Ludians with everything from meal plans, to nutritional advice, to on-going goal setting and fat testing. Donelle herself shed 37kg over a 5 month period so she knows first-hand exactly how to conquer those stubborn kilos.

MMA boys take the wins

Ludus Magnus would like to congratulate Hot Rod McSwain and Sam Striker Brown on their recent wins in Macau in Legend FC6. The boys were hitting it hard in the Ludus during lunchtime sessions and Ludus Magnus is proud to have a small hand in getting these boys into fantastic shape before their respective bouts. Onwards and upwards brothers!

These classes are now a mainstay on our timetable (will be added to timetable above in the New Year).

Ludus Xmas Party

Ludus Magnus will be holding its official Xmas Party on Saturday 17th December. It will be a daytime affair kicking off at 12pm and finishing around 5pm.

We hope you can all make it down to celebrate a SMASHING year in the ARENA. We will still be holding the morning classes so just stick around when you've recovered and we'll see if we can't chuck an xmas beverage down your throat to wash the burpees down.

PARKING

We are working on sorting the parking issue on Glenside Crescent out so please bear with us as we deal with the beast that is the Auckland City Council.

To ensure you don't get stung with a ticket you can park on St Benedicts Street which is literally a kettlebell swing away from Ludus. Not only do they have a number of street parks but they also have Wilson and Tournament Parking Lots there.

Be aware that parking on the Ludus grass island or on yellow lines does make you vulnerable to ticketing should a Warden be in the vicinity.

LOST PROPERTY

There is a shopping trolley at the side of the ramp as you walk down toward the garage door and it is full of stinky and not so stinky workout gear that has been left behind by legless Ludians. Please feel free to rummage through the trolley if you need some gear or indeed if you have left something at Ludus. Billy may be forced to wear anything that isn't collected within a week.

SPOTLIGHT ON ZO RUB

We have three fantastic new rubs available from reception which will help relieve those aching joints, loosen those stiff muscles, and ease the chaffing from all those bear crawls.

We have tester tubs and plenty of samples available for you to give them a go. Just make sure you wash your hands straight after (before you go to toilet) as they do have menthol and other heating agents which may cause discomfort when particular body parts come into contact with them.

We also have great pain relief medication available from reception in the form of Maxigesic - a blend of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Enquire within for further information on any of the above.
